Why we exist

Software has spent the last decade getting dramatically faster. The records most industries depend on have not. Permits, licenses, filings and registrations are still published one agency at a time, in formats that change without warning, with no shared way to say that two records describe the same thing.

That gap is where we work. We sit between systems that move slowly and the people who need answers now, and we do the unglamorous part in the middle: collecting, reconciling and keeping it current.

We do not start with a product and go looking for data to support it. We start with records that already exist and ask what someone could do if those records finally made sense together. When the answer is specific enough to be useful on day one, we build it.

The name

Most data is inert. It sits in a table and waits for someone to interpret it. We think data should arrive already knowing what it is: which company it belongs to, where it came from, what changed and why that matters.

That is what we mean by sentient. Not magic. Context.

Built for people and for software

A growing share of the questions asked of data are asked by software rather than by people. Our products are designed for both from the start: clear enough for a person to act on, structured enough for a machine to query.
